THE RECALL: Nissan is recalling about 7,800 Infiniti JX35 SUVs from the 2013 model year to fix a problem that can cause gas gauges to show there's fuel in the tank when there isn't.
THE CAUSE: A tube inside the gas tank could be in the wrong place and stop a float from dropping as fuel is used. This causes the gas gauge to give an inaccurate reading. The SUVs could run out of gas unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
THE FIX: Nissan dealers will get into the fuel tank and move the tube so the float functions correctly. Repairs are expected to start Sept. 4.
