(MYFOX NATIONAL) - A British woman was pulled over and given a ticket for flossing her teeth while driving on the highway reports The Telegraph .
The police were running a concentrated effort on pulling over distracted drivers during an eight day crack down. The unidentified woman was driving 70 mph when she was pulled over by police for flossing.
The woman was given a ticket for around $81 and lectured about the dangers of distracted driving.
This distraction was more dangerous than others because flossing requires two hands. Police said it is just the latest example of drivers risking their lives for the sake of vanity.
The eight day clampdown operation resulted in police pulling over 57 cars. Most drivers were pulled over for not wearing seat belts or using cell phones while driving.
"It is very concerning that a number of drivers are driving irresponsibly and carelessly on our motorways," said Inspector Lee Ford.
Ford says that not only is it unsafe for the driver, but they are also putting other drivers on the road at risk.
A police spokesperson said, 'We've caught women applying lipstick, make-up and checking their hair in the mirror - and even men using an electric razor on their way to work. But this is the first time we've seen someone flossing their teeth at the wheel. It was a quite bizarre sight."
In 2009, the Associated Press reported that an Ohio woman was arrested for driving while she was breastfeeding her baby and talking on her cell phone at the same time.
The woman told police that she couldn't let her child go hungry. Police said that breastfeeding in public wasn't their concern, but the fact that a child was in her lap while she was driving was the issue.
She was charged with a misdemeanor of child endangering.
