Bill McGinty comes to FOX from WTSP-TV in Tampa where he was working as the Weekend Morning Anchor and weekday Reporter since 1994.
Bill began his broadcast career in Alpena, Michigan in 1989. Moves to Rockford, Illinois, and Reno, Nevada followed until he landed in Tampa Bay. In 17 years on the job, Bill has covered many big local and national stories. Some of which include The Space Shuttle Columbia disaster in 2003 and NASA's return to flight with Shuttle Discovery in July of 2005. Hurricane seasons 2004 and 2005 kept Bill busy as he reported live from around the state as one of WTSP's primary storm chasers.

Ask Bill what is his most memorable story has been and he will without a doubt tell you the story of Dylan Crane. Bill met Dylan, who was 12, at the time Dylan was battling cancer. This courageous young man was making a documentary film about children having cancer so that other kids could use it as a roadmap if they ever got cancer. The story called "Dylan's story" was a yearlong project and went on to win Dylan and Bill two Emmys and an Edward R. Murrow award. The story can be seen at www.dylancrane.com.
Professionally, Bill has won four Emmys for reporting, two Edward R. Murrow awards for reporting, and took first place 3 times in the Florida Associated Press awards. The Tampa Bay Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists has honored Bill three times, once for his live reporting from inside the St. Petersburg riot.
Bill moved to the Inland Northwest in December of 2006 when he was named the Co-Anchor of FOX First at Ten.
Bill is married to his wife Joni and the couple has two young boys. As a family, they look forward to making Spokane and Eastern Washington their home as they explore all that this area has to offer.
